Elliot - I suggest placing a banana onto some graph paper and tracing the outline of the parabola it forms. You might want to make the bottom edge of the banana at the x-axis, so the vertex is right at the origin, but it doesn't matter so much. Then you can find your equation from the graph. Section 9-7 should also be useful to you. You might consider taking a picture of the banana on graph paper to include it here. Or you can find a picture of a banana and add the x- and y-axes with something like Photoshop. Good luck!
